Blogging Learning Curves

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Oh boy, this change to a self-hosted blog hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be. I’ve done it before with another blog but I’ve never really had comments a strong following on that blog, so I’m having to learn as I go with this one. I knew blogging was tough, but I thought that plugins were meant to make life easy. All I’ve ended up with is confusion!

What have I learned about blogging in the last 5 days?

  1. I didn’t have the right RSS plugin happening, so I couldn’t claim my blog on Bloglovin’, but guess what?! Now you can!
  2. The comments section isn’t functioning properly. I’m sorry. I’m working to fix this but I’m in the process of finishing my business plan that is due before the end of April.
  3. Changing from wp.com to self-hosted while you’re studying and about to go home for four days for your brother’s wedding is NOT a good idea!
  4. Plugins are confusing. Super confusing. There is so much conflicting information on the intarwebs that I’ve got myself into a bit of a pickle. I’m sure I’ll work my way out of it, but it just makes the whole blogging experience a bit painful right now.

Lesson Learned.

It’s safe to say that I thought I was able to do this conversion without any hassle. I clearly underestimated the process. Why am I bothering to post this then, isn’t it pointless? I don’t think so. Even if you can’t comment, you can still read. You can keep up with what’s going on in my world although I’ll still be pretty quiet from now until the end of the month. You can see what’s going on on my Instagram. Join me on Facebook. Follow me on Pinterest. We can still talk to each other there until I get my issues with blogging comments sorted.

Have a fabulous weekend, and be sure to check out my Instagram feed if you want to see snippets of my brother’s wedding!
